on riots

Updated: Aug 31, 2020

let it burn let screams that have gone hoarse from fight after fight and death after death and injustice after injustice finally be heard let us learn with vigor and lead with urgency let us love openly without conditions without asking those gasping for breath to give us CPR to tell us what to do or do it for us that is our job that is what we inherited a broken world that is ours to fix and the people who piled the kindling will not carry water, only gasoline let centuries of colonies built on backs of brown and black beauty burn to the ground in the brilliant flame of a promise that something else

something new for our country something better and stronger will rise from the ashes if we tend it let the people be angry let them grieve what was so wickedly and intentionally taken let the fury feed us forward let. it. burn.
