I occupy a lot of in between spaces. In my racial identity and sexuality, in my career and chosen professional fields, in the privilege and oppression I experience on a day to day basis. In the way I tend to move through the world. Mezcla is a feminine Spanish word meaning "mixture, blend, mix" and I've been rolling this word around in my head lately, feeling more connected to it than to other words. Mezcla is the place from which I think I see life. And therefore it's the place I write from.
I thought I would begin by jumping right into the deep end of the vulnerability pool and share a poem that I've not shared with anybody before. If you're reading this, thank you for spending time and attention on me. I'm honored.
